Basic Purpose

  • Supervise Distribution Warehouse operations .Task are to be completed while maintaining the highest food safety, and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high speed manufacturing environment and administering all traffic functions relating to freight movement in and out of the Distribution Center.
  • Managing the Arrowhead Mills Truck Fleet

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Distribution Center operations to meet quality, service, cost and people objectives.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems and/or assist workers in solving problems in the Distribution Center.
  • Adjust work schedule/employee assignments as required to due absentees, ingredient shortage for availability of product for shipment and timeliness of trucks for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Provides feedback and/or suggestions on how to correct quality issues, improve efficiency, and motivate the workforce.
  • During initial training period, evaluates new-hires progress, time, attendance, work ethic etc.
  • Confers with management to coordinate activities.
  • Scheduling all inbound and outbound trucks, TL and LTL
  • Follow up on all shipments inbound and outbound
  • Reconcile all Pick Tickets and log into computer
  • Work with Purchasing Department to balance schedule on all inbound movements
  • Audit all freight bills and pass back to accounting for processing
  • Pre-authorize all assessorial cost related to freight shipments
  • Schedule all maintenance repairs for Arrowhead Mills trucks and maintain service records
  • Monitor Service Records to ascertain when service is required for truck engines
  • Procuring Truck Broker loads for Arrowhead Mills trucks when appropriate
  • Reconcile driver trip envelopes weekly and monitor driver daily logs for errors or violations
  • Understanding the basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Directs the work of approximately 6 Distribution Warehouse Material Handlers



Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • 2+ years related experience or equivalent tendering freight, LTL
  • Class A CDL Required
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Knowledge of freight rates and common carriers
  • Proficiency in multiple modes of transportation and utilization of economical and cost effective routing
  • Familiar with customer routing guides/manuals
  • Ability to understand and utilize data management systems (Prism Dolphins, PC Software, etc)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to understand/interpret written instructions and procedures
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
  • Proficient in operating semi-truck/trailer combination
  • Must be knowledgeable in all DOT Rules and Regulations pertaining to AMI Driver requirements
  • Must be familiar with basic computer concepts and operations, proficient on Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the work place
